1.49

क्षुताद्यन्ते भये शोके गह्वरे वा रणाद्द्रुते । कुतूहले क्षुधाद्यन्ते ब्रह्मसत्तासमीपगा ॥४९॥

kṣutādyante bhaye śoke gahvare vā raṇād drute | kutūhale kṣudhādyante brahmasattāsamīpagā

anuṣṭubh

— at the end of hunger and such (urges) ; — in fear ; — in grief ; — in a deep cavern (of doubt) ; — or ; — fleeing from battle ; — in curiosity, in wonder ; — at the end of hunger and such ; — (one comes) near to the being of brahman

At the start and end of a sneeze, in fear, in grief, peering into an abyss, fleeing from battle, in intense curiosity, at the start and end of hunger — the state nears the very Being of Brahman.
